Finding the correct belt size ensures a balanced fit, proper tip length, and long-term comfort.
This guide explains exactly how Hamerley belts are measured and how to choose your ideal size.

How Hamerley Belt Sizing Works

Each Hamerley belt size is determined by measuring:

From the base of the buckle (where the leather meets the buckle, excluding the buckle itself) to the center (3rd) hole.

This measurement represents the official belt size.

Every belt features:

  • 5 adjustment holes
  • 1 inch spacing between each hole
  • 2 inches adjustment smaller
  • 2 inches adjustment larger
  • 6 inches from center hole to belt tip

For the most balanced and refined appearance, we recommend wearing the belt using the center hole or one of the adjacent holes.

Example: Understanding Belt Size 31

If the belt size is 31 inches, the five holes will correspond to:

  • 29"
  • 30"
  • 31" (center hole)
  • 32"
  • 33"

Technically, waist sizes 29–33 inches can wear this belt.

However, for optimal proportion and comfort, the ideal waist size range is:

30–32 inches

Using the first or last hole may cause the belt tip to extend too long or sit too short.

How to Choose the Right Size

As a general rule:

Select a belt that is 1–2 inches larger than your trouser waist size.

Example:

If you wear size 32 trousers, choose:

  • Belt size 33 for a closer fit
  • Belt size 35 for a slightly relaxed fit

If you are between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size.

How to Measure Using an Existing Belt

  1. Lay your belt flat on a surface.
  2. Measure from the base of the buckle (not including the buckle length).
  3. Measure up to the hole you use most often.

That measurement equals your ideal belt size.
