Choose a direction
Our patina artisan will contact you personally to refine your colour before work begins. This service is complimentary.
Made to Order | Custom Made Dispatch in 30 days
The Sterling is a service boot drawn with discipline: a structured ankle, a subtly raised toe and clean, purposeful lines. Cut from imported Argentinian full-grain leather and hand-welted in the Goodyear tradition, it is made to deepen in tone and character with every wear.
Every pair is tailored to your measurements and refined with you personally before production begins. Keep the colour shown, or commission a bespoke patina in any shade or gradient, applied entirely by hand.
Its high-density rubber sole is made for a lifetime of wear. And when the sole eventually wears, your first resole is on us.
Design & Construction
Your Fit, Personally Considered
A Better Fit Begins with a Conversation
Select your preferred US or EU sizing system, shoe size and available width. We will then work with you to confirm the relevant measurements and fitting preferences before your pair enters production.
If you are unsure of your size or width, our team will guide you through the measurement process.
Your selection is the beginning of the fitting conversation, not a substitute for it.
The Patina Commission
Your Colour. Your Character.
A patina is more than a colour. It is the interplay of tone, depth and finish across the natural surface of leather.
Choose from our established finishes or commission a personal patina inspired by your preferred colours, reference images or a particular vision.
For a bespoke finish, share your inspiration with us. Our team will review the request, confirm the possibilities and communicate any additional cost before work begins.
Each finish is applied to leather by hand, and the natural qualities of the hide ensure that the final result will have its own character.
Care & Longevity
Preserve the Character of Your Leather
Brush gently after wear to remove surface dust. Use a suitable leather conditioner sparingly, testing it on a discreet area first. Allow shoes to dry naturally between wears and keep them away from direct heat and prolonged sunlight.
Store them in a cool, dry place, preferably with suitable shoe trees. For patinated leather, use care products appropriate to its particular finish, as unsuitable creams or polishes may alter the colour.
With thoughtful care and timely professional maintenance, your shoes can accompany you for years.
THE MATERIAL
Chosen for Its Character
We work with imported Argentinian full-grain leather, selected for its natural grain, depth and distinctive character. Preserving the integrity of the hide allows its individuality to remain part of the finished shoe.
From the first selection of the leather to the final finish, every choice is guided by a respect for the material and the craft of shoemaking.
Crafted with Intention
Every detail is shaped by skilled hands and time-honoured techniques. We believe true craftsmanship lies in patience, precision and the quiet pursuit of getting every detail right.
Built to Last
Our shoes are hand-lasted and Goodyear welted, combining traditional construction with lasting structure. Made with care, they are designed to be worn, maintained and cherished for years.
Leather with Character
We use imported Argentinian full-grain leather, valued for its natural grain and authentic character. Vegetable tanning, where used, lends the leather depth and a patina that evolves beautifully with time.
The Beauty of Handwork
From careful material selection to the final finishing touches, each stage is approached with purpose. The result is footwear defined not by excess, but by considered details and enduring character.

THE ART OF BESPOKE
A Colour That Is Entirely Your Own.
A fine patina is never simply applied; it is carefully composed. Through the considered layering of colour, subtle transitions and depth, our artisans bring character to every pair by hand.
Choose a palette that speaks to you, from deep oxblood and burnished cognac to a combination entirely your own. Each finish is developed with care, allowing the natural character of the leather to remain part of the final expression.
Your vision, interpreted by hand. A finish that belongs to you.
Made with Purpose. Built to Endure.
True craftsmanship is found in what lies beneath the surface. Our Goodyear welted construction brings together the upper, welt and sole through a time-honoured method, creating a considered foundation designed for lasting wear and future resoling.
The Beauty of Natural Character.
We begin with imported Argentinian full-grain leather, chosen for its natural grain, substance and depth. Every hide carries its own nuances and markings, lending each finished pair a quiet individuality that cannot be manufactured.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Hamerley bespoke shoes different?
A Hamerley shoe begins with you. From understanding your measurements and fit preferences to selecting your leather finish and colour, every detail is considered before your pair enters production. Our approach brings together imported Argentinian full-grain leather, traditional shoemaking and a personal fitting experience, creating footwear that reflects your individual preferences.
How does the bespoke ordering process work?
Your journey begins with selecting your preferred design, size and customisation options. Our team will then contact you to discuss your measurements, foot width, fitting preferences and chosen finish. We will review the details with you and confirm the specifications before production begins. Once approved, your shoes are made to your agreed requirements.
How do you ensure the right fit?
Fit is a conversation, not simply a number on a size chart. We work with you personally to understand your foot measurements, width and fitting preferences. Whether you typically wear a US or European size, our team will help establish the appropriate specifications before your shoes are made.
If you are unsure how to measure your feet, we will guide you through the process.
Can I choose my own shoe size and width?
Yes. You can share your preferred US or EU size, along with your foot width and measurements. Depending on the design and available construction options, we will work with you to establish the appropriate fit specifications.
Our team will confirm the details with you before production. If you have unusually wide feet, a high instep or other specific fitting requirements, please let us know during the consultation.
Can I customise the colour of my shoes?
Absolutely. Our bespoke patina service allows you to request colours, tonal transitions and gradients that reflect your personal taste. From deep oxblood and burnished cognac to contrasting shades or a distinctive combination of your own, you can share reference images or describe your vision.
Our team will discuss the feasibility of your chosen finish and confirm the agreed specifications before the artisan begins work. As patina is applied by hand, the final result will have its own character rather than being an exact mechanical reproduction of a digital image.
Can I customise the shoelaces as well?
Yes. You can request a shoelace colour to complement your chosen leather finish or create a considered contrast. Share your preference during the customisation process, and our team will confirm the available options before production.
Are the materials used genuine?
Yes. Hamerley belts are made using top grain leather and a carefully constructed woven strap.
Genuine leather is a natural material, so subtle variations in grain, texture, colour, pores and surface markings may occur. These characteristics are part of the material's natural individuality and are not, by themselves, signs of damage or poor quality.
Our woven straps use high-quality polyester yarn selected for the construction and appearance of the belt. We do not use synthetic leather as a substitute for genuine leather in the leather components of our products.
What leather do you use?
We use imported Argentinian full-grain leather, selected for its natural grain, substance and distinctive character. Full-grain leather retains its natural surface, including individual markings and variations that make every hide unique.
The leather and its finish are selected according to the requirements of the design. Where a vegetable-tanned leather is specified, we will identify it accordingly.
How are Hamerley shoes constructed?
Our footwear combines traditional shoemaking techniques with careful attention to detail. The uppers are hand-lasted over a shoe last, and our Goodyear welted construction provides a structured foundation designed for durability and the possibility of resoling by a skilled professional.
Each stage is approached with respect for the materials and the integrity of the finished shoe.
How long does it take to make my shoes?
Please allow approximately 30 days for the manufacture of your bespoke pair, beginning once your measurements, design choices and other specifications have been confirmed.
Because each pair is made to agreed requirements, we prioritise careful execution over rushed production. Our team will keep you informed of your order's progress.
How long does delivery take?
Once your shoes are completed and dispatched, express air delivery typically takes 3–5 business days, subject to the destination and courier service.
Please note that this is the transit time after dispatch, separate from the approximately 30-day manufacturing period. Your estimated delivery window will therefore include both production and shipping.
Do you offer Cash on Delivery?
No. Hamerley bespoke footwear is available on a prepaid basis only. This allows us to begin production against your confirmed order specifications and allocate the necessary time and materials to your pair.
Can I return or exchange my bespoke shoes?
Because each pair is made to your confirmed specifications, we do not offer routine returns for a change of mind or a preference change after production.
However, your relationship with us does not end at delivery. If the fit is not as expected, contact our team so we can assess the issue and discuss an appropriate adjustment or exchange, subject to our fitting and exchange policy.
If a product arrives damaged, defective or materially different from the agreed specifications, please contact us promptly so we can resolve the matter in accordance with our applicable policies and legal obligations.
What if my shoes do not fit correctly?
Please contact us as soon as possible after receiving your shoes and explain where the fit feels incorrect. Our team will discuss the issue with you and assess the available options, which may include fitting guidance, adjustment or an exchange where appropriate.
Our aim is to work towards a satisfactory fit rather than leave you to resolve the matter alone. The available remedy will depend on the nature of the issue and the construction of your particular pair.
How should I care for my shoes?
Full-grain leather benefits from thoughtful care. Brush away surface dust with a soft horsehair brush, allow the shoes to dry naturally between wears and store them in a cool, dry place. Use a suitable leather conditioner sparingly, testing it on a discreet area first.
For bespoke patina finishes, take particular care when choosing creams, polishes or cleaning products, as these may alter the colour. If you are unsure, contact us for care guidance appropriate to your leather and finish.
Will my shoes look exactly like the photographs?
Our product photographs illustrate the design and intended finish. Natural full-grain leather carries individual markings, while hand-applied patina develops its own tonal nuances. Your pair may therefore differ subtly in grain, colour transitions and surface character.
These variations are inherent to working with natural leather and applying finishes by hand. For custom colours, we will discuss your references and agreed direction before production.
